Fall championship season kicks off next week

OTTAWA (CIS) – The 2012 CIS fall championship season getsunder way in less than a week.

The action kicks off on Thursday, Nov. 1st with Day 1 ofwomen’s field hockey at the University of Toronto andwomen’s rugby at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish,N.S. The CIS banners in both sports will be handed out on Nov.4.

The following weekend, the country’s top university soccerplayers will battle for CIS supremacy at the University of Victoria(women) and Laval University in Quebec City (men), while crosscountry champions will be crowned at Western University in London,Ont.

Championship season concludes on Friday, Nov. 23 with the 48thVanier Cup final at Rogers Centre in Toronto (7:30 p.m. TSN &RDS). The CIS football semifinals are set for Saturday, Oct. 17with the AUS champions visiting the RSEQ titlists in the Uteck Bowl(1 p.m. TSN & RDS) and the Canada West champs visitingOUA’s top team in the Mitchell Bowl (4 p.m. TSN &RDS).
