November 2, 2012, Saskatoon, SK – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies will battle provincial rivals the University of Regina Cougars in a home-and-home series on the weekend.

The teams will meet Friday in Regina at the Co-operators Centre before returning to Saskatoon Saturday night.

Saskatchewan enters the series after a tough start to the season. The Huskies are in last place with a 1-5-2 record. Regina, who enters with a 5-3-0 record, looks to remain near the top of the standings.

Since 2004-05, the Huskies have a 22-13-3 record against Regina including winning all four meetings last year. In the last 22 meetings between the teams, the Huskies have outscored the Cougars 91-43.

Rianne Wight leads the Cougars with five goals and four assists on the season. Other scoring for the Cougars has come from Stephanie Sawchuk and Paige Wheeler. Sawchuk has three goals and six helpers, while Wheeler has three goals and one assist.

Despite the rough start fifth-year captain Cara Wooster and fifth-year forward Danny Stone continue to have impressive seasons. Wooster has four goals and sevenassists, while Stone has four goals and four helpers. Cami Wooster has alsohelped with the Huskies’ offence with two goals and six assists.

Toni Ross and Jennifer Schmidt have split time in net for the Cougars this season. Ross has recorded a .949 save percentage and a 1.37 goals against average, while Schmidt has a .903 save percentage and a 3.06 goals against average.

Rookie goalie Cassidy Hendricks has started the Huskies last few games posting a .894 save percentage and 2.99 goals against average.
