November 2, 2012, Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades are very pleased to announce the acquisition of forward Nathan Burns from the Vancouver Giants.
In exchange for the Edmonton, Alberta native, the Blades have dealt centre Travis McEvoy, a 3rd round pick in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft and a 1st round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.
Burns is the brother of former Saskatoon Blades alternate captain Michael Burns and has spent his entire career with the Vancouver Giants organization. Burns has appeared in 15 games this season, registering 6 goals and 9 points to go along with 18 penalty minutes.
“Nathan is a player that we’ve been interested in for quite some time,” said Blades General Manager and Head Coach Lorne Molleken. “He’s a very versatile player and is able to kill penalties, play on the powerplay and also play both centre and left-wing.”
The 6’2, 175 pound forward is expected to join the Blades in time for their game tonight against the Kootenay Ice.
The Saskatoon Blades would like to welcome Nathan and his family to the organization. The Blades would also like to wish Travis McEvoy the best of luck going forward with the Vancouver Giants.
