November 2, 2012, Victoria, BC – The United States Women’s Curling Association Friendship Tour kicked off in Victoria yesterday. As part of this year’s tour, 16 American women will be visiting curling centres on Vancouver Island and in the Lower Mainland.
The tour kicked off in Victoria yesterday and moved to the Cowichan Rocks Curling Facility today. It winds down with a final game at Marpole Curling Club on November 8. A series of seven friendly eight-end games between the visitors and local curlers has been scheduled. The ladies will also visit Nanaimo, Royal City, Richmond and Cloverdale Curling Clubs.
The visiting curlers come from 11 different states: Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Washington.
Yesterday, the US ladies met up with teams from across the Victoria area, including Team Campbell from the Victoria Curling Centre, Team Warburton from the Esquimalt Curling Club, Team Johnson from the Juan de Fuca Curling Centre and Team Bell from the Glen Meadows Curling Club.
