November 3, 2012, SPOKANE – Playing their fourth game in five nights, the Everett Silvertips suffered a 5-0 shutout loss to the Spokane Chiefs Saturday night in the first of two straight games at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.

After their fifth straight defeat, the Silvertips drop to 6-11-0-2 for the season heading into another matchup with the Chiefs on Tuesday.

Eric Williams stopped all 26 Everett shots he faced in the game, including a number of point-blank chances, to keep the Silvertips off the scoreboard. The ‘Tips were 0 for 2 on the powerplay, while Spokane was 2 for 4. The Chiefs outshot the Silvertips 32-26.

Spokane grabbed an early lead when Connor Chartier knocked in the rebound of Jason Fram’s initial shot to open the scoring three minutes in. The Chiefs made it 2-0 later in the period off a steal at the Everett blueline as Dylan Walchuk’s shot hit a diving Austin Lotz and crept toward the goal line before Collin Valcourt tapped it in at the 17:05 mark.

The Spokane lead became 3-0 at 4:28 of the second period when Adam Helewka skated unchecked off the boards and wired a wrist shot into the top corner from the right circle. Todd Fiddler made it 4-0 Chiefs on the powerplay three minutes later, sending a long shot over Austin Lotz’ shoulder through traffic from the point. Lotz was then relieved in net by Daniel Cotton for the remainder of the period and Spokane took the four-goal advantage to the locker room.

Another powerplay led to the Chiefs stretching the lead further on a Brenden Kichton goal at 2:10 of the third period, making it 5-0 for the home team. Williams (10-4-0-0) did the rest in goal, stuffing a number of close calls for the Silvertips to finish off his third career shutout. Austin Lotz (1-7-0-1) took the loss after stopping 14 shots in nearly 28 minutes. Daniel Cotton came in to make 13 saves on 14 shots.

The Silvertips will remain in Spokane for the next three days in preparation for another matchup with the Chiefs Tuesday night at Spokane Arena. Tuesday’s opening faceoff is set for 7:05 pm, with pregame radio coverage starting at 6:30 on Fox Sports 1380 AM. Everett then returns to Comcast Arena to face the Red Deer Rebels Wednesday at 7:05 pm.
