November 7, 2012, Victoria, BC – The Westshore Wolves used a pair of short-handed and a pair of power play goals to defeat the Peninsula Panthers 5-1 in Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League action Wednesday night at Bear Mountain Arena.
The Wolves two short-handed goals would both come in a three-goal first period, as Kyle Richter, Joel Gordon and Max Mois would score to give the Wolves a 3-0 lead.
The Wolves would continue to dominate and with second period power-play goals from Clay Carson and Richter (his second) they would jump out to a 5-0 lead and chase Panther starter Steven Heslop from the nets in favour of Justin Samra.

While the Wolves would give up a power play goal to the Panthers’ Dane Gibson in the third, they coasted to the easy win.
In taking the loss for the Panthers, goalie Heslop stopped 17 of 22 shots, while backup Samra stopped 11 of 11 in his thrid-period relief performance. For the Wolves, Alec Dillon had another strong performance stopping 28 of 29 shots for the win.
With his two goals and three assists, Richter earned the game’s first star honours, while Mois’ goal and three assists gave him second star standing. Dane Gibson of the Panther’s took home third star honours.

The Wolves win moves their record to 11-9 on the season and they now sit one point back of the third place Panthers in the South Division and 6 points back of second place Saanich.
