November 17, 2012, Victoria, BC – The Camosun College men’s volleyball team came away with a sweep while the women’s squad split their games Friday and Saturday against the visiting Columbia College Bearcats.

Women’s Action

Friday: CBC 3 – 1 Camosun

(25-21, 20-25, 25-19, 25-16)

It was a disappointing evening for the Chargers women who fell in four hard fought sets to the PACWEST’s third-ranked CBC Bearcats squad. While the home team moves to 2-7, the Bearcats advance to 6-3. Hilary Graham and Morgan Marshall were the top point makers for Camosun, contributing 11 offensive points each. Graham scored 7 kills, 3 aces and 1 stuff block while Marshall, who leads the league in blocks (0.92 avg), had 7 kills, 1 ace and 1 block.


Saturday: Camosun 3 – 0 CBC

(25-22, 25-15, 25-20)

It was a welcome win for the Chargers women who recovered and regrouped following last night’s defeat to take down their opponents in straight sets today. This afternoon’s victory advances Camosun to 3-7 while the Bearcats move to 6-4. Second-year leftside Carly Hilliard came in to lead the charge today with 13 kills, 2 blocks and 1 ace.

Men’s Action 

Friday: Camosun 3 – 0 CBC

(25-16, 25-23, 25-16)

The Chargers men took down the visiting Bearcats in three straight sets tonight, picking up their fifth win of nine matches played to date this season. The loss puts CBC at 2-7. Third-year leftside Jeremy Finn (Westbank) led Camosun to victory with 13 kills, 1 ace and 5 digs. Second-year middle Alex Sadowski made 6 kills, 1 ace, 2 blocks and 3 digs.

Saturday:  Camosun 3 – 0 CBC

(25-15, 26-24, 25-23)

The Chargers men added a second win to their weekend with today’s sweep over the CBC Bearcats. Camosun advances to 6-4 while the Bearcats fall to 2-8. Second-year middle Alex Sadowski led the Chargers with 12 kills and 2 blocks. Fifth-year leftside Garrett Marcellus had 13 kills and 9 digs.

Next weekend the Chargers volleyball teams host the College of the Rockies on Saturday (6 & 8pm) and Sunday (11am & 1pm). All matches at PISE.
