November 17, 2012, (ISN) – The visiting University of Calgary Dinos remained perfect with a narrow 73-71 victory over the No. 7 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies Friday night at the PAC in Saskatoon.

With the win Calgary moves to 5-0 on the season. The Huskies drop to 2-3 with the loss.

Calgary led for the majority of the first four quarters, until a play under the basket by reigning Canada West Rookie of the Year Dalyce Emmerson gave the Huskies’ their first lead since the first quarter with 7:30 left in the game. The teams traded leads nine times to close out the quarter, until Jessica Franz hit a long three-point shot with 14.5 seconds left in the game to give Calgary the win.

Although the Huskies scored the first basket of the game, Calgary quickly took over finding the net easily and often to grow a 18-7 lead at one pointing the first frame. Calgary continued to lead at the end of the first quarter 27-18. The Dinos had a 44-35 lead at halftime and still led 55-50 at the end of the third quarter.

Franz led the Dinos in the victory with 23 points and eight rebounds, while Tamara Jarrett added another 15 points and seven rebounds.

Emmerson scored a game-high 26 points for the Huskies. Kelsey Trulsrud nabbed 13 boards in the game.

Saskatchewan finished the game shooting 48%, while Calgary shot 47%.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night. Tipoff is 6:15 p.m. The game can be watched on
