November 17, 2012 (ISN) – Taking control of the game from the first quarter, the No. 9 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies defeated the visiting University of Calgary Dinos 90-70 Friday night at the PAC in Saskatoon.

After trading points to open the game, Saskatchewan took control with seven points by Evan Ostertag. The Huskies continued to pour the ball in the net leading 22-16 after the first quarter. Extending their lead in the second frame, Saskatchewan led 43-32 at halftime.

The Huskies strong shooting and rebounding continued in the second half. Saskatchewan outscored Calgary 27-25 in the third quarter and 20-13 in the fourth.

In the win, Saskatchewan spread the scoring around with five players in double digits. Point guard Stephon Lamar led the Huskies with 22points, followed by Canada West leading scorer Matthew Forbes with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Andrew Henry added another 12, while Patrick Burns chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds. Ostertag finished the game with 10 points.

Dallas Karch led the Dinos with 14 points on the night. Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson tallied another 13 for Calgary, while Thijin Mosesscored 11. Matt Letkeman led the Dinos on the boards with six rebounds.

The Huskies finished the game shooting 50%, while Calgary shot 41.5%.  Saskatchewan also won the battle on the boards outrebounding the Dinos 45-26.

With the win Saskatchewan improves to 3-2 on the season, while Calgary drops to 2-3.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night. Tipoff is 8 p.m. The game can be watched on
