November 20, 2012, Cloverdale, BC – Four women’s teams have won places in the 2013 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship presented by Best Western. They will join defending champion Kelly Scott’s team at the event at Cloverdale Curling Club from January 14 to 20, 2013.
Three of the teams won spots at the championship after successfully competing in the first of three women’s qualification events in Vernon on the weekend of November 16 to 18.
Those teams include the A Event qualifiers, Team Richter, from the Royal City Curling Club in New Westminster. The team is made up of Skip – Marilou Richter, Third – Darah Provencal, Second – Jessie Sanderson, Lead – Sandra Comadina and Coach – Sharon Morrison.
The B Event qualifiers were Team Knezevic, from the Prince George Golf & Curling Club, made up of Skip – Patti Knezevic, Third – Kristen Fewster, Second – Jen Rusnell, Lead – Rhonda Camozzi, Fifth – Falon Burkitt and Coach – Rick Fewster.
The C Event qualifiers were Team Kuhn from the Vernon Curling Club. The team is skipped by Roberta Kuhn and has Karla Thompson as Third, Michelle Ramsay as Second and Christen Wilson as Lead.
Cloverdale Curling Club’s Team Mallett have earned their spot in the 2013 BC Scotties for attaining the most Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) points between the period of December 1, 2011, and November 15, 2012. The team is made up of Skip Marla Mallett, Third Kelly Shimizu, Second Shannon Ward, Lead Barb Zbeetnoff, Fifth Danielle Callens and Coach Victor Shimizu.
Three more teams will qualify at the next women’s open event November 30 to December 2 at the North Shore Winter Club and the final two teams will come from a third event taking place in Prince George from December 14 to 16.
