November 22, 2012, Victoria, BC – The 2nd Annual Victoria Goddess Run has announced that Ocean 98.5 will be its Presenting Sponsor for the 2013 and 2014 events. The women’s only event that features a Half Marathon, the Westhills 10K and BMO 5K will take place on Sunday June 2, 2013 at Langford City Centre Park.

With the 2012 event selling out in just seven weeks, the participant cap has been raised to 3,500.

The Victoria Goddess Run was founded by Andrea Carey and Cathy Noel, both strong running and fitness advocates in Victoria. “We are thrilled to welcome Ocean 98.5 to the Goddess family. As a great community supporter, with a female demographic focus, Ocean 98.5 shares our passion for growing the Goddess community in celebrating women!” says Carey. “The Goddess community is not just about one day, but rather about creating community that supports each other and our charity partners year round,” adds Noel.

“Ocean 98.5 is very proud to be involved with the Goddess Run. This is a great event, that we are passionate about being involved with,” says Jason Manning, Program Director for Ocean 98.5.

Building on the success of the 2012 event the run will have many features including unique participant gifts, entertainment on the course, chocolate, a KidsZone, post-race food, massage and draw prizes.

“We are very supportive of recreation in the WestShore and contribute to building healthy communities. Supporting the Victoria Goddess Run for the second year is important for us as the event supports women and families running for worthwhile causes,” says Rohan Rupf, Marketing Director of Key Corp Marketing, speaking on behalf of Westhills.

“We’re thrilled to be part of the Run; as a way to support women in their life and fitness goals. Many of our employees on Vancouver Island are runners already and are looking forward to the Run, or volunteering for the event,” says Shelly Jensen, Vice President, Vancouver Island, BMO Bank of Montreal.”

The race supports three charities: the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre, supporting women who have suffered a sexual assault; Women’s Transition House who work to help women who have suffered abuse to get the help they need to get back on their feet, and ProMotion Plus who support women and girls participation in sport and physical activity. A total of $10,000 was raised for the charities in 2012 and to date over $7,000 has been raised for 2013.
