November 23, 2012, Saskatchewan (ISN) – Two third period goals lifted the No. 4 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies over the visiting University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Friday night at Saskatoon’s Rutherford Rink.

Notched at two entering the third period, Huskie Andrew Bailey broke the tie with a quick shot on a short-handed opportunity just 48 seconds into the frame. Huskie captain Brennan Bosch extended the lead to two at 14:20 in the third period when his shot beat Lethbridge netminder Damien Ketlo glove side.

The Pronghorns pulled within one after Huskie goalie Ryan Holfeld turned over the puck on a clearing attempt. Brent Henke stopped the puck just before the blue line and shot it into the net before Holfeld could get back in position with 57 seconds left in the game. Despite the extra man for the remaining portion of the game, Lethbridge couldn’t force extra time.

With the win the Huskies move to 10-3-0, while Lethbridge drops to 1-10-2.

Lethbridge’s Hayden Rintoul opened the scoring for the ‘Horns just 3:27 into the first period. His shot deflected off Holfeld’s skate and into the corner of the net. But the lead didn’t last long. Kyle Bortis tied the game with a shot over the shoulder of Ketlo at 4:40. Before the end of the frame, Lethbridge would add another on the power play by Devon Kalinski at 13:54.

Craig McCallum scored 2:04 into the second period to tie the game at two.

Holfeld made 17 saves in the win, while rookie Ketlo stopped an impressive 37 of the 41 shots he faced in the game.

The two teams will battle again Friday night at Rutherford Rink. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
