November 25, 2012, Saskatchewan (ISN) – Brandon Herrod and Craig McCallum tallied two goals each in a 9-4 University of Saskatchewan victory over the visiting University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Saturday night at Saskatoon’s Rutherford Rink.
ookie Herrod scored at 2:53 and 16:42 in the first period. McCallum tallied both of his goals in the third period – at 7:10 and again at 11:02. Herrod finished the night with four points.
In the win, seven different Huskies tallied in the game including captain Brennan Bosch, assistant captain Chris Durand, second-year defenceman Zak Stebner, as well as rookies Jimmy Bubnick and Jesse Ross. Bubnick finished the night with three points.
With the win the Huskies improve to 11-3-0 on the season, while the Pronghorns fall to 1-11-2. A night earlier, the Huskies won 4-3.
The floodgates opened for the Huskies in the third period scoring four goals in the frame. The Huskies led 3-1 after the first period and 5-2 after the second.
Daniel Iwanski got the Pronghorns on the board at 11:06 in the first period. Chase Schaber scored the ‘Horns second at 7:09 in the second. Clayton Cumiskey tallied at 2:36 in the third on the power play and Cody Chikie added Lethbridge’s fourth goal at 17:04 in the frame with the man advantage.
Lethbridge goaltender Damien Ketlo made 28 saves before being pulled in favour of Dylan Tait just 12 seconds into the third period. Tait made 13 saves in his 19:48 of play. Ryan Holfeld stopped 21 of the 25 shots he faced in the game for the Huskies.
The Huskies remain at home to host the Mount Royal University Cougars next weekend, while Lethbridge faces the Calgary Dinos in a home-and-home series.
