November 27, 2012, VICTORIA – The University of Victoria Vikes women’s basketball team have found a comfortable spot on the CIS top-10 rankings, being voted No. 7 for the fourth time in five weeks of polls. The Vikes will close out the 2012 portion of their season hosting the Lethbridge Pronghorns and the No. 8 Calgary Dinos on Friday and Saturday at McKinnon Gym.

The Vikes are currently on a four-game win streak, after defeating both Alberta and No. 9 Saskatchewan on the road, Nov. 23-24. The two road victories boost the Vikes to a 6-2 record, good for second place in the Pacific Division behind Fraser Valley (8-0).

Goodis is second in the conference with a 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio and leads the Vikes in defensive rebounds (5.8 average per game), assists (5.0 average per game) and steals (2.5 average per game). Yeboah has also been consistenting putting up the scoring numbers for the Vikes, averaging 13.3 points per game.

The Vikes will have their work cut out for them this weekend, as the Horns have upset Saskatchewan and defeated Winnipeg twice, while the Dinos are currently undefeated and top the charts in three-pointer percentage, steals, turnover margin and offensive rebounds.

“We are going to need everyone to contribute this weekend,” said associate coach Dani Sinclair. “To be successful this weekend we have to win the rebounding battle and our regulars, like Debbie and Cassandra, need to continue doing what they do best.”

The Vikes will face Lethbridge on Friday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. before turning over to host Calgary at 5 p.m. on Dec. 1. Friday night’s events will be supported by the University of Victoria’s Eco-Car. On both evenings, Vikes Athletics will be collecting non-perishable foot items to donate to the Mustard Seed. All fans that bring food items will be able to enter to win a grand prize.
