December 3, 2012, Brandon, Manitoba – Tip Top Tailors , in conjunction with the Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that 19-year old Swiss left-winger Alessio Bertaggia has been chosen the Western Hockey League club’s Player of the Month.

A former first round selection in the Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, Bertaggia led the Wheat Kings in scoring last month with five goals and 12 points in nine games, while registering a +5 ranking.

Entering the team’s upcoming 4-game home stand that begins Friday night against the visiting Spokane Chiefs, the 5’8″ 165 lb Bertaggia leads the Wheat Kings in scoring this season with 31 points, including fifteen goals in 26 games. As well, the second year Wheat King also learned that he had been chosen to play for his native country – for the second straight season – at this year’s World Junior Hockey Championships in Russia.

Bertaggia becomes the second Tip Top winner of the 2012-13 campaign, joining captain Ryan Pulock, who captured the monthly award for September / October.

Since joining the Wheat Kings in the fall of 2011, Bertaggia has 39 goals and 81 points in ninety regular season games.

In recognition of the monthly honour, Bertaggia will receive a shirt, tie and suit from Tip Top Tailors in the Shoppers Mall, the official menswear clothier of the Wheat Kings, during Saturday’s game against the visiting Red Deer Rebels at Westman Communications Group Place.

The Wheat Kings, who are coming off a 2-game weekend road trip that saw them lose in Swift Current, before dropping a 2-1 overtime decision in Medicine Hat on Sunday night, enter the week with a record of 10-16-2-2 and sitting in fifth place in the WHL’s Eastern Division.
