December 4, 2012, EDMONTON – Second-year Fraser Valley basketball guard Kevon Parchment and Saskatchewan Huskies fourth-year guard Kiera Lyons are the Canada West Athletes of the Week.

Kevon Parchment led the CIS #6-ranked Fraser Valley Cascades to two road victories this past weekend.
The Cascades defeated Brandon 81-61 on Friday and Regina 82-68 on Saturday to improve to 7-3 in the Pacific Division, one game behind UBC at the December break.
Parchment led the Cascades with 38 points, including a game-high 23 against Regina on Saturday, 16 total rebounds, leading the team both times, and the 6-3 Kinesiology major blocked three shots over the weekend at key moments of the games to preserve the lead. He played 38 minutes on Saturday night and at both guard positions. He also recorded eight steals as the Cascades as a team forced their opponents to commit 26 turnovers over the two contests.
Canada West now takes its annual exam and holiday break before the Cascades resume action on January 11-12, 2013 against Saskatchewan and then Alberta.

University of Saskatchewan guard Kiera Lyons recorded 53 points and eight rebounds in two Huskies road wins over the Mount Royal Cougars and UNBC Timberwolves on the weekend.
In Thursday’s 66-60 win over the Cougars, the fourth-year from Ryley, Alta., scored a game-high 25 points. She added five rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in the win. In a 92-70 win over the UNBC Timberwolves on Saturday, Lyons scored another game-high 28 points, three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal.
Lyons and the #9 Huskies finish the first half of the Canada West season with a 5-5 record.
