Teddy Bear Toss Night on Saturday!
December 4, 2012, Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals will welcome the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday, December 5th for a B.C. Division contest before entertaining the Swift Current Broncos on Saturday, December 8th for Teddy Bear Toss Night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on both Wednesday and Saturday evenings.
After returning from Prince George with a pair of victories last weekend, the Royals, now 15-12-0-1, remain at the 3rd spot in the B.C. Division standings. Wednesday night will see the Vancouver Giants roll into Victoria with a 7-20-0-0 record, which currently has the club occupying the last place in the WHL. Saturday will be a family affair as Adam Lowry, son of Royals’ Head Coach Dave Lowry, and the Swift Current Broncos make a trip to the island. Adam Lowry was named captain of the Broncos this season while his 31 points (11g-20a) through 30 games played have helped Swift Current to a 12-13-3-2 record.
The Royals’ Holiday Combo is now on sale at the Select Your Tickets Box Office! For $60, fans are able to purchase a Royals’ Holiday Combo that includes four anytime ticket vouchers as well as a pair of black “touch screen” gloves! The vouchers are redeemable for any Royals’ home game between now and March 15th in the corner and end sections of Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
Wednesday, December 5th
Wednesday night is Island Savings night! Island Savings will be on hand to give out thundersticks to the first 2,000 fans in the building while they will also be providing free face painting upon entrance and throughout both intermissions. Fans can also visit the Island Savings booth in the main concourse to enter to win a team-signed Royals jersey!
Wednesday’s game is also Student Night! Students receive a discounted $12.00 ticket to the game when they provide valid student identification! At the game, there will be dedicated sections for the University of Victoria, Camosun College and Royal Roads University. During the first intermission, Tim Bits Minor Hockey presented by 100.3 The Q! will feature players from Cowichan Minor Hockey Association. The second intermission will see two fans compete in the Island Savings Student Shootoff. The two lucky contestants, from rival post-secondary schools, will shoot 10 pucks in 10 seconds into an open net while the winner will receive $100.00 cash and a $100.00 donation to a charity of their choice courtesy Island Savings!
BFI will be on hand at Gates 1 and 3 to collect non-perishable food, toys and monetary donations on behalf of the Mustard Seed Food Bank in exchange for $3 off Royals’ anytime ticket vouchers! Japan Camera will also be available on Wednesday for fans to have a Christmas photo taken with Marty the Marmot! Located at Gate 1 before the game from 6:00-6:45 p.m., Japan Camera will be snapping pictures for a suggested donation of $5 to the Mustard Seed Food Bank.
Robbins Parking will be available at Gate 1 for their annual Toys 4 Tots drive. Robbins Parking staff will be voiding parking tickets for students who bring in donations of new toys for Santa’s Anonymous! Tickets must be from Camosun College lots at either the Landsdowne or Interurban campuses.
During the game, fans will be able to purchase tickets for the End of the Roll 50/50 draw and foam pucks for the Old House Village Chuck-A-Puck. Prizes for the evening’s Chuck-A-Puck will include a one-night stay and spa treatment for two courtesy of Old House Village, a Family 4-Pack to the Royal BC Museum, two adult day lift passes from Mount Washington Alpine Resort and a gift certificate to Wallace Driving School! Proceeds from the evening’s End of the Roll 50/50 will benefit Wishart Elementary School and Old House Village Chuck-A-Puck will support Team de Jong Men’s Junior Curling team.
Saturday, December 8th
Saturday night is one of our favourite nights of the year; it’s Teddy Bear Toss Night! Fans are encouraged to bring their new or gently-used teddy bears and stuffed toys to the game and throw them on the ice following the Royals’ first goal. Bears and stuffed toys will be donated to The Salvation Army, The Zone’s Christmas Toy Drive benefiting the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul as well as Royals’ hospital visits throughout the season! The Times Colonist Christmas Fund and TLC Fund for Kids will also be selling bears at Gate 1 by donation while supplies last.
Saturday evening is also Save-On-Foods Night! Save-On-Foods will be providing plastic bags upon entrance for those bringing stuffed toys from home to protect them from the ice.
