Team Pierce to join Team Cotter at provincials

December 4, 2012, Parksville, BC – The Royal City Curling Club’s Team Pierce have secured a place at the 2013 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship.

The team is made up of Skip Brent Pierce (New Westminster), Third Jeff Richard (Kelowna), Lead Grant Dezura (Maple Ridge) and Second Kevin Recksiedler (Port Moody).

Pierce earned a spot at the provincial championship after becoming the Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) points winner for the BC championship. The team have the second highest number of points after Team Cotter, who have already won their place at the championship because they are last year’s winners.

The Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship returns to Parksville in 2013. Cotter and Pierce will face 14 other men’s teams at the event from February 5 to 10.

A series of playdowns take place from December 7 to 16 to decide 10 of those berths, while four further spots will go to the highest -ranking teams at an open event in January.

The winner of the 2013 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship will face off against the best curlers in Canada at the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier in Edmonton from March 2 to 10.
