December 6, 2012, Victoria, BC – The Victoria Cougars (25-1-0-1) open a home and home series with the Kerry Park Islanders (2-21-0-2) tonight.  Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.

Tonight’s game will mark the final regular season appearance by Brad Scafe and his crew. And when the Cougars travel to Kerry Park on Saturday, it will be the eighth and final time the two teams will hook up.

Unless they were to both meet in the playoffs.

Tonight’s game will also mark the second of three in a row against the Islanders.

Victoria, who is on a three game win streak, has won all six meetings which include a 5-1 triumph last Thursday.

Brody Coulter led the way with a pair of goals while Mark Walton, Wade Johnson, and Garrett Brandsma each added singles.

Replying for Kerry Park was Braeden Cross.

Evan Roch made 30 saves to improve to 16-1-0-0 on the season while his counterpart Jordan Hospes turned aside 38 shots in his first start since coming over from the North Vancouver Wolf Pack of the Pacific Junior Hockey League.

Last week, the Islanders did what no other team in the nine-team Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League has done this season and that was to direct more than 30 shots towards a Cougars goaltender.

Kerry Park fired 31 shots at Roch.

Special teams have played a prominent role during the season series.

Victoria has gone 23-for-60 on the power play while the Islanders have gone 1-for-36.

Sam Rice, who is second in league scoring with 60 points, has six goals and 15 assists in six meetings against Kerry Park.

His line mate Brody Coulter, who enters tonight’s game with a league leading 71 points, has three goals and 15 assists versus the Islanders this season.

Both Rice and Coulter were called up last Sunday by the Victoria Grizzlies for their British Columbia Hockey League game against the Langley Rivermen.

Last Saturday, the Islanders fell 4-2 to the Nanaimo Buccaneers for their eighth straight loss.

Kyle Peterson leads all Kerry Park scorers with 16 goals, 14 assists, 30 points, and 111 penalty minutes.
