December 6, 2012, Nanaimo, BC – The Nanaimo Clippers may only have one game this weekend but it’s a big weekend off the ice. On Sunday, December 9th they play their final home game of 2012 at Frank Crane Arena against the Surrey Eagles. This is the first time the two teams have met this season, and it’s a return for ex-Clipper Mason Blacklock.
Mason who played in the 2011-2012 season with the team tallying 3 goals and 12 assists in 50 games was picked up by the Eagles early on in the season. Mason has played with the Eagles in 22 games so far and has got 5 goals and 7 assist. He is looking forward to returning to Nanaimo to play on the other side “it was always a fun place to play. I am looking forward to return to see some old teammates and hoping to come out with a win.”
Off the ice the Clippers are holding their annual Christmas Hamper Drive and encourage their fans to bring a non-perishable food item that will be donated to Hamperville Nanaimo.
“We are well aware that the need is great for food in our community, particularity at this time of year.” Commented Jen Kennedy, Director of Sales & Marketing “We do food drives throughout our season, but our fans are always the most generous at this time of year . We are extremely proud to donate these items to Hamperville on behalf of our fans.”
