December 8, 2012, Parksville, BC – The Oceanside Generals used four third period goals to take a 5-3 win over the Nanaimo Buccaneers in VIJHL action Saturday night at Oceanside Place in Parksville.

It felt like the battle for first place when the Buccaneers took on the Oceanside Generals. In the first period the Buccaneers’ Daniel Foglietta netted the lone goal in the period and the 8th of the season for him.

In the second period, the Buccaneers took the bigger lead at 2:55 from Tyson Harvey which would be his second goal of the weekend, and second of the season, but at 9:33 Michael Fretz would retaliate with his 20th goal of the season. Michael is the top scorer in the VIJHL right now. But the Buccaneers kept adding some insurance at 15:32 Garrett Dunlop makes it 3-1.

However in the third period the Generals came out on fire getting four unanswered goals, first at 8:37 by Carson McCulloch, then followed shortly after at 9:27 by Cole Schneider then to take the lead at 11:59 from Colby Lim. As the Buccaneers pulled their netminder it was a 4-3 but the Generals Travis Flug gets the empty netter with less than one second to go to make the final 5-3 for the Generals.

The Buccaneers winning streak came to an end, while the Generals is now at five in a row.
