December 13, 2012, Victoria, BC (ISN) – Young curlers applying for higher education have until December 15 to get their applications in for a memorial scholarship.
The Gordon Hooey Memorial Scholarship Fund is administered through the Victoria Foundation in perpetuity. Ideally, it will go to juniors interested in becoming coaches, but it could also support the post-secondary education of juniors who have demonstrated a commitment to becoming top-level curlers and who show leadership skills in their communities.
It is not given as cash grants, but goes directly to the Canadian institution or organization to which the applicants are applying.
Applications must be received at the Curl BC office, to the attention of the Awards Committee, no later than December 15.
The deadline for the Camosun College Foundation scholarship is also approaching.
The Canadian Senior Men’s and Ladies’ Championships 1991 Bursary provides support for residents of BC who are currently enrolled in a post-secondary program at a recognized university or college. Consideration is given to full-time students who maintain satisfactory academic standing and who have financial need. The deadline for applications is December 31.
