December 18, 2012, (ISN) – It was a great weekend for the Royal City Curling Club, which is the home rink for all of the winning teams.
Team Geall, Team Wakefield and Team McArdle were the top three teams to compete at the Lower Mainland men’s qualification event that took place in Chilliwack over the weekend.
And at the final open women’s qualification event, held in Vernon, Team Fox and Team Olsen were winners.
Team Fox, from the Royal City Curling Club in New Westminster, is made up of Skip Kirsten Fox, Third Kristen Recksiedler, Second Trysta Vandale, Lead Dawn Suliak and coach Fred Fox.
Team Olsen, also from the Royal City Curling Club, is made up of Skip Lori Olsen, Third Rachelle Kallechy, Second Lindsae Page, Lead Kelsi Jones, Fifth Theresa Tourand and coach Katie Witt.
The A event qualifiers from the men’s event were Team Geall, from Royal City Curling Club, made up of Skip Sean Geall, Third Jay Peachey, Second Sebastian Robillard and Lead Mark Olson.
The B event qualifiers were Team Wakefield, from the Royal City Curling Club. The team is made up of Fourth Mike Johnson, Third Paul Cseke, Skip/Second Jay Wakefield and Lead John Cullen.
The C event qualifiers were Team McArdle, from the Royal City Curling Club, made up of Skip Ken McArdle, Third Dylan Somerton, Second Jared Bowles and Lead Michael Horita.
The two women’s teams are the final teams to qualifty for the 2013 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship at Cloverdale Curling Club in Surrey from January 14-20. The full line-up is Team Scott, Team Mallett, Team Richter, Team Knezevic, Team Kuhn, Team MacKinnes, Team Sanders, Team Groundwater, Team Fox and Team Olsen.
The three teams will join the eight other existing competing men’s teams at the 2013 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship in Parksville from February 5-10. Five more berths are available to the top men’s teams at an open qualification event being held at Golden Ears Winter Club in Maple Ridge on January 4-6, 2013.
