December 23, 2012, Parksville, BC – The Nanaimo Buccaneers were on Santa’s good list, winning their last game of 2012 4-1 over the Oceanside Generals on Saturday evening at Oceanside Place in Parksville.

After a scoreless first period that was a goaltenders show between Riley Medves and Kiefer Giroux, the Buc’s started the scoring in the second on the powerplay at 8:36 when Will McNamara would convert  from Garrett Dunlop and Derian Hamilton to make it 1-0.

In the third period, the Buccs got on the board again at 6:08 unassisted by Derian Hamilton, followed by another goal by Lyden Eddy. The Generals tried to push back with a goal at 13:40 from Ethan Larson, but it wasn’t enough as Garrett Dunlop ended the game with an empty netter.

Dunlop who now has points in his last 15 games says he doesn’t event pay attention to it, “I just want the team to succeed.” Dunlop went on to say to continue to win they have to keep playing strong.

With this wrapping up the first part of the Buccaneers inaugural season, Dunlop mentioned it has been great. “I could not ask for a better group of guys to play with and we have the best owners, coaches, and trainer in the league. It just makes it more enjoyable to be on the team.”
