December 27, 2012, Kelowna, BC – The Kelowna Rockets extended their home winning streak to 13 games on Thursday night, returning from the Western Hockey League’s Christmas break with a convincing 7-3 win over the Kamloops Blazers.
After taking a 1-0 lead after the first period, the Rockets broke the game open with five goals in the second period en route to the win. Kelowna is now 14-2-0-0 at Prospera Place and 24-10-1-1 overall, good for third place in the WHL Western Conference.
Zach Franko scored twice and added three assists in a first-star performance while Ryan Olsen and JT Barnett also scored twice. Myles Bell also scored, with his team-leading 21st of the season while Jackson Whistle earned the win in net.
The Rockets are back in action on Friday night as the team travels to Vancouver for another WHL BC division rivalry game against the Giants.
On Sunday the Rockets are back home to host the Everett Silvertips in a special 5 p.m. start. The game is a fundraiser for the Kelowna Food Bank and fans are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to fill the Pepsi Truck for the food bank.
