Ice Hawks Impress At PeeWee Xmas Classic

January 1, 2013, Victoria, BC., (ISN) – It was a busy holiday season for VMHA Pee Wee C1 (Major) players, coaches, and their families.  During December 27 – 29, the PW C1 Ice Hawks participated in VMHA Pee Wee “C” Christmas Classic tournament with enthusiasm and heart.

The Ice Hawks dominated their opening game of the round robin vs. the C1 Saanich Braves rolling through with a score of 5 – 1.

In the middle of game two vs C1 Kerry Park Islanders, the Hawks lost one of their key players due to an unfortunate incident resulting in a casted arm. The Islanders played top notch to win 5 – 1.

In game three vs. C1 Juan de Fuca Grizzlies, the Hawks, short a second strong player, came back from a 4-1 score at the start of the third period, after pulling the goalie to tie it up. Celebrations for the strong effort were complemented by a locker-room feast of Hothouse Pizza as donated generously by George Papaloukas

The medal game proved a triumph for the Hawks with a 3-0 shutout against the Braves, to result in the Bronze.

A special thanks to fantastic Head Coach Jeff Van Hinte and Assistant Coaches Robert Jansch, Robert Grant, Ian Weir, and Brad Bryan for being outstanding role models for the VMHA PW C1 players.  A many thanks to the team’s families for cohesion and dedication to our team’s experience.
