Forbes Commits to Nanaimo

January 7, 2013, Nanaimo, BC (ISN) – The Nanaimo Clippers are looking towards the 2013-14 season with the commitment of Ryan Forbes, from the Cariboo Cougars of the BCMML.

Ryan who is 17 years old from Kitmat, BC who is in his second season with the Cariboo Cougars. Last year Ryan registered 39 games with 11 goals and 25 assist while this year playing so far 16 games, 10 goals and 15 assist.

Coach of the Nanaimo Clippers Mike Vandekamp is excited in their commitment to Ryan.

“Our scouting and coaching staff are excited to make this announcement today. After watching the first half of the season and the recent Mac’s Midget Tournament in Calgary, we were all in agreement that Ryan was one of the top prospects we wanted to pursue next season.”

 “Ryan is a strong two way centre who brings competitiveness and intelligence to the ice every game.”

Ryan who said the talks started with the Clippers at the Macs Major Midget Tournament in Calgary a few weeks ago, and have been in contact ever since. Ryan said he is very excited about his future with the Clippers.

“My family and I feel it’s an excellent fit and I hope to make an impact and contribute to the team’s success in any way I can.”

Eventually Ryan’s goal is to obtain an education through hockey and to continue to enjoy the game every chance he gets, but for now he is focusing on the task at hand.
