Thousands to train for the 24th Annual TC10K
January 14, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – Monday, January 14, 2013). The Official TC10K Run/Walk Training Clinics will start the weekend of January 19/20 at Recreation Centres all over Victoria and the Capital Regional District.
The 14-week training program is offered at 13 Recreation Centres with the objective of running or walking the 24th Annual TC10K on Sunday, April 28
The clinics offer a variety of locations, days and times to accommodate any schedule. There are four programs – one for walking, and three running levels – for beginners, intermediate and advanced. Participants in the clinics each pay $120 + HST and receive a comprehensive 14-week training program, technical training shirt, TC10K registration (including the event shirt), and expert advice on topics such as nutrition, injury prevention and shoe selection. All clinics are led by experienced, trained Run/Walk Leaders.
“The clinics are a great way to get motivated and set goals. We have a range of participants from first-time runners to those doing their first 10K,” says Race Director Jacqui Sanderson. “The TC10K really does kick-start the running season for many and afterwards it is an opportunity to set new goals such as a faster 10K or a half-marathon.”
Interested individuals who wish to join a clinic can register directly with their local recreation centre. The participating centres are listed at www.tc10k.ca/tools/tc10k-training-clinics .
The TC10K is Canada’s second largest 10-kilometre race. In 2012, 12,483 registered for the 10-kilometre race and the Thrifty Foods 1.5k Family Run. To register go to www.tc10k.ca For more information call: 250-744-5538.
