SE Winter Programs Announced

January 16, 2013 (ISN) – Registration for winter programs at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) is now open. The winter session runs from January – April 2013, with many programs starting the week of January 21. PISE offers a wide range of training programs for youth and adults at its facility on the Interurban Camosun College campus at 4371 Interurban Road, Victoria.

PISE’s popular strength and aerobic conditioning classes are returning including PISE H.I.I.T., Bootcamp, Superfit, Women on Weights and Strength & Conditioning 55+. PISE Spin and Super Spin and TRX® Suspension Training are also back. PISE is excited to introduce Raise the Bar in February – an introduction to Olympic Lifting. In April, Springfit is available for those wanting to improve muscular strength and endurance as well as anaerobic and aerobic conditioning. Two adapted programs that were introduced in the fall are returning – Wheelchair Basketball and Adapted Strength and Conditioning.

Teen athletes will be excited to hear that there is a new program for ages 14-19 that was previously reserved for professional athletes – Energy Systems Training. The twice-weekly program is for teens who are seriously pursuing their sport and want to increase their performance through advanced training protocols. They will have their aerobic, anaerobic and phosphocreatine energy systems tracked, and will undergo Contrast Hydro Therapy as part of the recovery process – a new service that PISE is offering.

PISE continues to deliver Physical Literacy programs for children and youths in the community. Active Start, Active ABCs and Active Sport are progressive programs for toddlers and up to 11 years. PISE Youth B.L.A.S.T.T. teaches youths from 12-15 correct lifting techniques, and Drive, for 14-22 years, teaches rowing specific conditioning protocols for increased rowing performance.
