January 17, 2013, (ISN) – Team Canada will only see action in the afternoon draw on opening day of the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts being played at the K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ontario, February 16 – 24.
Heather Nedohin’s team from Alberta have a bye into the Canadian Championship based on their gold-medal win against BC’s Kelly Scott in last year’s final game in Red Deer, Alberta.
Nedohin took bronze at the 2012 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship in Lethbridge, Alberta. The team recently helped North America to a 37-23 victory at the World Financial Group Continental Cup. Nedohin’s team is currently curling in Scotland in preparation for defending their title against eleven other teams who are trying to win their provincial titles and with it a ticket to Kingston.
The only other team already declared is skipped by Northwest Territories’ Kerry Galusha, who will be making her eleventh appearance at the Scotties, nine as a player and two as an alternate.
