January 17, 2013, (ISN) – The first games of the spring season for the Valhallians and Academy are January 26th, both at home. 3rds play their first match of a revamped schedule on February 3rd (Superbowl Sunday), home against CW. The division has been reworked with 5 teams after a disappointing fall.
Velox, Nanaimo, Cowichan, Powell River, and CW (rejoining after an absence). Peninsula has folded, Port Alberni has decided they are unable to field a second squad, and Comox is testing the waters in 1st division.
Still nothing on the BCRU website as to a women’s premier schedule….
Over the next month we are planning to renovate our club gym, making it a safer and more inviting environment for players.
We need to fundraise for this cost so will be holding an auction of used gym equipment in the next few weeks and ask any club members, if they have some gym equipment of any value gathering dust in their homes and are willing to donate to this cause, please either drop off to the club in the next two weeks or email email@example.com to schedule a pick up.
We will also be accepting cash donations for this venture on Thursday nights over the next two weeks.
Next Big Party at Velox
Following the Valhallians game with JBAA (Feb 2nd), Velox will be hosting a big club bash with two live bands. Local bands Everybody Left and Tuff Jelly will be entertaining. Everyone is welcome so bring friends and lets make the night a success. On a side note, this also could be Barneys 30th Bday. Should be an enjoyable night.
Two Velox players have been invited to a U20 camp this weekend: Tua Vaa and Charles Kijek. Congratulations to both of you, and good luck!
The club is running drop in rugby on Fridays 4-5pm(ish), Jan18th though May 17, at Goudy Field. Winston will be running non-contact touch and skills. We are looking at a nominal registration fee of $60-75 to offset costs, with a target audience of U15 to U19. Go to www.langfordrugby.com for more details.
