January 19, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) -The Camosun College Chargers basketball teams played host to two more tough battles today as they tipped off against the Quest University Kermodes from Squamish.
While the Chargers women collected their second defeat of the weekend, the men made another strong appearance chalking up the second of their back to back wins.
While the first half of today’s women’s match between Camosun and Quest was a fairly even one with the teams tied at 23-all at the break, the third quarter saw a revived and determined Kermodes squad blasting past the home team to secure a 13-point lead and control of the game. Despite a concerted effort from the Chargers (who actually outscored Quest 16-15 in spite of being drained in the previous quarter), the team could not pull itself out of the mire and was defeated 59-47.
Leading Camosun in points was first-year wing/post Melissa Van Dyk (Claremont) who contributed 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Third-year post Haley Carmichael (Belmont) also made a great performance collecting 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
