January 22, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The second race in the Frontrunners Island Race Series – the Cobble Hill 10K – takes place on Sunday, January 27 at 11 am. The race starts and finishes at George Bonner Middle School, Cobble Hill Road. The 10K is hosted by the CEEVACS Road Runners.
Runners can register online until midnight, Wednesday January 23 at www.vira.bc.ca, or on race day. Race registration until January 23 is $25 for adults and $20 for students. Race day fees are $35 and $30 for students.
“We are looking forward to another competitive field at the Cobble Hill 10K this weekend,” says Cathy Noel, President of the Vancouver Island Runners’ Association, the non-profit organization that coordinates the series. “We had an issue with snow and icy roads last year which caused us to re-schedule the race, but this year we are hoping for great racing weather. The course is a fast one!”
Prairie Inn Harriers lead the club standings, with Bastion Running Club second and Team West Coast third.
Eight races make up the Frontrunners Island Race Series. Cobble Hill 10K will be followed by Cedar 12K on February 10, Hatley Castle 8K on February 24, Synergy Health Management Ltd Bazan Bay 5K on March 10, Comox Valley RV Half Marathon on March 24, Merville 15K on April 7, and Sooke River 10K on April 21. Synergy Health Management Ltd Bazan Bay 5K and the Comox Valley RV Half Marathon are part of the Timex BC Series. All races are sanctioned by BC Athletics.
