January 24, 2013, Surrey, BC (ISN) – Members of the Surrey Eagles will participate in the annual Toque Tuesday street hockey event on February 5th outside the Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre in Whalley. The event begins at 10:00am.
Toque Tuesday is a day of awareness for homelessness. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the event and donate winter coats, socks, footwear, children’s wear and non-perishable food items. Donations will go to the Pacific Community Resources Society, Keys: Housing and Health Solutions, the Surrey Urban Mission Society and the Surrey Food Bank.
“The Toque Tuesday street hockey event is an important one in our community,” said Eagles Director of Sales and Marketing Andrew Delbaere. “As an organization, we are excited to be participating, and we encourage our fans to attend on February 5th and donate to this very worthy cause.”
The Eagles will also be collecting clothing donations at the team’s game against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Sunday, January 27th. Fans who come out to the South Surrey Arena and make a donation at the game will receive a 2-for-1 voucher for an upcoming Eagles home game.
