January 26, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Camosun Chargers volleyball teams split Friday’s matches against the UFV Cascades with the women falling to the CCAA’s top ranked team in straight sets and the men collecting their 10th win of the season in three.

The Chargers women were defeated in straight sets tonight, despite a hard fought effort and an extremely close 2nd set in which the home team led the nation’s top squad by as much as six points. This week’s PACWEST Women’s Volleyball Athlete of the Week, Morgan Marshall led Camosun with 10 kills and 3 blocks. The Chargers move to 7-10 while the Cascades advance to 16-1. 

Women’s Final Score

UFV 3-0 Camosun

(25-16, 26-24, 25-13)

Camosun was focused and powerful in tonight’s match against the Cascades, taking less than 70 minutes to blast past their opponents in straight sets. The win puts the Chargers ahead to 10-7 while the Cascades drop to 2-15. Third-year leftside Jeremy Finn (Westbank, BC) led Camosun to victory with 14 points (4 aces, 9 kills, 1 block). Third-year power Alex Wolf left with a total of 13 offensive points which included 2 aces, 8 kills and 3 blocks.
