Victoria Cougars Conquer Storm

January 26, 2013, Campbell River, BC – Ben Kinshella scored his 19th goal of the season and chipped in an assist to lead the visiting Victoria Cougars to a 3-2 win over the Campbell River Storm on Friday night.

Also lighting the lamp for Victoria (39-1-0-2), who scored its first two goals shorthanded and its third and final goal on a power play, were Kelyn Opel and Sam Rice.

Michael Herringer turned aside 18 shots to record his 13th win of the season.

Replying for the Storm (10-30-0-3) was Jon Brumwell and Spencer Pierce.

Jordan Salas made 27 saves in a losing cause.

Brody Coulter had an assist and now has 109 points on the season.

The Cougars went 1-for-6 on the power play; meanwhile, Campbell River went 1-for-5.

In Saanich, Brett Lervold scored the game winner midway through the third period to propel the Westshore Wolves past the hometown Braves 4-2.

And in North Saanich, Riel Gibson scored three times as the visiting Nanaimo Buccaneers cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Peninsula Panthers.

Next game for Victoria is Sunday, January 27 against Nanaimo. Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 3:30 p.m.
