Boes Named Player of the Month

February 1, 2013, Brandon, MN (ISN) – Tip Top Tailors, in conjunction with the Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that veteran netminder Corbin Boes has been chosen the Western Hockey League club’s Player of the Month for January.

Boes, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, is coming off a strong month that saw the 19-year old Saskatoon product appear in seven games, compiling a 3.47 goals against average, a 2-4-0 record and a sparkling .911 save percentage.

In 34 games with the Wheat Kings this season, Boes has posted an 11-20-2 record, a 4.08 goals against average and an .889 save percentage. The former Portland Winterhawk bantam draft choice finished third among all WHL goalkeepers last season with a save percentage of .916 in 41 appearances.

With less than two months remaining in the 2012-13 WHL regular season, Boes has career totals of 108 games and 5,920 minutes played, a 3.42 goals against average and an .899 save percentage.

Boes, who attended Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence Goaltending Camp in Calgary last summer, is in his third season with the Wheat Kings.

In recognition of the monthly honour, Boes will receive a shirt, tie and suit from Tip Top Tailors in the Shoppers Mall, the official menswear clothier of the Wheat Kings, during one of the team’s home games during their upcoming 7-game home stand, scheduled to begin this Saturday when they play host to the visiting Regina Pats at Westman Communications Group Place.

Saturday’s game will be the back half of a home and home weekend series between the two teams. Brandon will kick off the weekend with a game against the Pats in Regina on Friday night.
