‘Birds continue winning ways on the slopes of Idaho

The Varsity Alpine Ski Team continued their winning streak this past weekend at Brundage Mountain, Idaho. Both the men’s and women’s took first place in the Giant Slalom USCSA qualifier. For the third straight weekend the Ski ‘Birds dominated the rest of the field.

The women’s team was lead by Samantha Bisnaire (Toronto, ON), who continued her hot streak and finished first both days. Ella Both (Toronto, ON) had another impressive weekend of racing finishing 3rdand 4th, followed by Christina Donnelly (Ottawa, ON) who finished 6thon Saturday and 4thon Sunday. Kayla Johnston (Kelowna, BC) also snuck into the top 10. Rachel Warner rounded out the strong women’s team with a top 20 performance. With the victories this weekend, the women finished off an undefeated season going into regional’s.

The men’s team had all five guys in the top 10. Luke Terhart (Edmonton, AB) had a break out weekend, winning both days. He held off a strong 2ndplace performance by College of Idaho’s Zack Shank. Michael Bisnaire (Toronto, BC) struggled on Saturday, unable to finish the first run, but showed he will still be a contender at regional’s finishing in 3rdplace on Sunday. Ben Middleton (Portsmouth, NH) skied consistently while finishing in 3rdand 4thplace. Austin Taylor (Brockville, ON) was 10thand 6th. While freshman Jamie Fisher showed he has a lot to offer to the team for the next 4 years finishing in 9thand 6thplace.

The Ski Birds’ have the next two weekends off before regional’s at Red Lodge, Montana, where they will try and continue to ski consistently well and earn a trip to nationals.
