February 5, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The third race in the Frontrunners Island Race Series – Cedar 12K – takes place on Sunday, February 10 at 11 am. The race starts and finishes at Cedar Junior Secondary School, 2215 Gould Road, Nanaimo. Cedar 12K is hosted by the Bastion Running Club.
Runners can register online until midnight, Wednesday February 6 at www.vira.bc.ca , or on race day. Race registration until February 6 is $25 for adults and $20 for students. Race day fees are $35 and $30 for students.
“We are happy to be able to sponsor the Island Series again this year,” says Frontrunners owner Rob Reid. “The post-run food is outstanding, and the volunteers have initiated a great recycling program. Word of advice: don’t slow down when you hit the grassy field – run like a Kenyan to the finish.”
Prairie Inn Harriers lead the club standings, with Bastion Running Club second and Frontrunners Athletic Club third.
Eight races make up the Frontrunners Island Race Series. Cedar 12K will be followed by Hatley Castle 8K on February 24, Synergy Health Management Ltd Bazan Bay 5K on March 10, Comox Valley RV Half Marathon on March 24, Merville 15K on April 7, and Sooke River 10K on April 21. Synergy Health Management Ltd Bazan Bay 5K and the Comox Valley RV Half Marathon are part of the Timex BC Series. All races are sanctioned by BC Athletics.
