February 5, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce that forward Alex Gogolev has been selected as the Tip Top Tailor-Made Player of the Month for January.
The 20-year-old forward recorded an impressive 26 points (4g-22a) in 13 games played during the month including a nine-game point streak that saw him notch 23 points (4g-19a). Gogolev’s play was recognized this past month when he was selected as the Denny’s WHL Player of the Week on January 21st and the CHL Player of the Week the following day.
“Alex had an exceptional month for us,” General Manager Cameron Hope said. “He has been an important contributor to our success recently, including a team-record winning streak. The recognition is well deserved.”
Gogolev currently leads Victoria in scoring with 64 points (19g-45a) in 48 games played to go along with a plus-six rating while he also sits tied for 12th in the WHL amongst all scorers. January marked the Moscow, Russia native’s most productive month in the WHL, shattering his previous high of 13 points in a month. Acquired by the Royals in a September deal with the Calgary Hitmen, Gogolev has already eclipsed his 2011-12 point total of 57 points (25g-32a) in 69 games.
