February 9, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Camosun Chargers volleyball teams earned a split in round one of their double header against the Capilano University Blues Friday night.
The Chargers women’s squad struggled to keep pace with their opponents in tonight’s match-up which went to four sets. Despite a hard fought effort, the home team was unable to get the edge over the Blues and the home team went on to collect their 13th loss of the season. Third-year leftside Hilary Graham had yet another outstanding evening with 18 points (14 kills, 2 aces, 2 blocks) and 11 digs. Today’s results leave both teams tied with a record of 8-13.

Tonight’s men’s match produced some of the best volleyball ever played under PISE’s gymnasium roof. A sell-out crowd was treated to four sets of hard-hitting action featuring countless heart-pounding rallies and solid blocking. While the match was a see-saw battle to the end, Camosun prevailed with the upper hand securing their 14th win of the season. Third-year leftside Jeremy Finn led the Chargers to victory with an astonishing 25 points (16 kills, 7 blocks, 2 aces) and 15 digs. Fifth-year veteran Andy Inglis made another impressive performance with 16 points (14 kills, 1 ace, 1 block) and 8 digs. The Chargers move up to 14-7; the Blues drop to 13-8.
