February 9, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – With the adulation and support of an exceptionally enthusiastic home crowd to inspire them, the Camosun Chargers volleyball teams completed their final weekend of regular season competition.
The Chargers went the distance in both matches, earning a split against the visiting Capilano University Blues.
The Chargers women made a complete turn-around today, pushing their opponents to five and collecting their 9th win of the season. The Chargers came out swinging in the first two sets of the match and while a 3-set win looked very possible, the visitors answered back to win the following two sets to even the score. Camosun returned to maintain dominance throughout the final and deciding set, taking the fifth by 3. Third-year leftside Hilary Graham claimed the lead position once again with 20 calculated kills. Top performances on defense were made by second-year Kelsey Johnson who amassed 20 digs and third-year Mariah Holmstrom who posted 16. Camosun is 9-13 while the Blues drop to 8-14.

The men’s match also saw a reversal of fortune although not to the benefit of the home team. Fans were once again treated to some fantastic volleyball with both teams focused on the win and battling for every point. The visitors were the first to come up to the plate, taking the first two sets before Camosun jumped in to take sets 3 and 4.
