Battle to clinch spot in final

Two Royal City Curling Club teams are battling for a place in Sunday’s final.

Sean Geall’s foursome were the A Event qualifiers at the 2013 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship and are hoping that their string of wins continues on Saturday against Team Pierce. Skip Sean Geall (Maple Ridge) and Lead Mark Olson (White Rock) were part of a winning team that went to the Brier in 2009. Third Jay Peachey (New Westminster) was a 2004 champion and Second Sebastian Robillard (Burnaby) rounds out the team.

Team Pierce, meanwhile, are fresh from a victory over Team Bilesky to become the B Event qualifiers. Skip Brent Pierce’s foursome is made up of Third Jeff Richard (Kelowna) as well as Lead Grant Dezura (Maple Ridge) and Second Kevin Recksiedler (Port Moody).

Also on the ice on Saturday morning is Team Buchy (Kimberley) and Team Bilesky (Royal City). Team Bilesky beat Team Wakefield in last night’s crucial C-event draw, while Team Buchy beat Team Perepolkin for the chance to advance.

Sunday’s final starts at 5pm and will also be televised on Shaw.
