February 12, 2013, Oakville, ON – PGA TOUR Canada has opened registration for its Qualifying School, set to take place April 7-12 at the Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont, California.
The Qualifying School will see a minimum of 40 players earn their PGA TOUR Canada cards, with the top 20 players earning exempt status and the next 20 plus ties earning conditional cards.
The top five players on the 2013 Order of Merit will earn highly-placed status on the Web.com Tour, with the leading money winner earning exempt status for the year. Players finishing in spots 6-10 on the Order of Merit will earn an exemption into the final stage of Web.com Tour Q-School.
“PGA TOUR Canada Q-School has a history of producing some great players at this level and beyond,” said PGA TOUR Canada President Jeff Monday. PGA TOUR Canada alumni to come from Q-Schools conducted in California include Brendan Steele, Spencer Levin, Andres Gonzales and Adam Hadwin. “We’re looking forward to seeing the crop of players to come from this Q-School and the impact they’ll make on PGA TOUR Canada,” added Monday.
The competition will take place April 9-12, with April 7 and 8 reserved for practice rounds.
PGA TOUR Canada returns to Beaumont after conducting its California Q-School there in 2012. Andrew Roque, who went on to win the first event of the season at the Times Colonist Island Savings Open, claimed medalist honours.
Registration will remain open until March 20.
