Woodland on top after day one round in San Diego

February 12, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – University of Victoria Vikes women’s golfer Megan Woodland (Victoria, BC) has found herself in a familiar spot at the Super San Diego Championship, hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University, Feb. 11-12. Woodland, last year’s NAIA and AII champion, is currently in first place following day one with a score of 2-under-70 (32-38).

As a team, the Vikes are currently in a four-way tie with a score of 327. Behind Woodland was Brynn Tomie (Bedford, NS), who is tied for 14th with a score of 8-over 80 (42-38). Other Vikes competing include Michaela Abey, Emily Nichol and Michaela Misener.

Leading the teams are Grand Canyon University, with three top-25 finishers and a team score of 315, while Sonoma State University boasts second-place finisher Spencer Heller with a day one score of 1-over 73 (37-36).
