February 13, 2013, (ISN) – The last piece of the puzzle for the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier, presented by Monsanto, fell into place on Tuesday at the Crapaud Curling Club.

In a Prince Edward Island Tankard final delayed two days by extreme weather on the weekend, Eddie MacKenzie from the Charlottetown Curling Complex took two in the 10th end and then stole a point in an extra end to beat club =mate Rod MacDonald 7-6

MacKenzie, who’ll be competing in his third Brier, joins a veteran-laden field that includes defending Brier and world champion Glenn Howard of Ontario (Coldwater and District Curling Club), who’ll be making his record 15th Brier appearance, along with 2010 Olympic gold-medallist Kevin Martin of the Saville Centre in Edmonton, who’ll represent the host province in pursuit of a record fifth Brier title as a skip, as well as three-time Brier champion Jeff Stoughton of the Charleswood Club in Winnipeg.

The rest of the field from east to west (and then north): B.C.’s Andrew Bilesky (Royal City CC New Wesminster), Saskatchewan’s Brock Virtue (Callie CC, Regina), Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs (Soo Curlers Association, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.), Quebec’s Jean-Michel Ménard (Club de curling Etchemin, St-Romuald), New Brunswick’s James Grattan (Gage Golf and CC, Oromocto), Nova Scotia’s Paul Flemming (Lakeshore CC, Lower Sackville), Newfoundland/Labrador’s Brad Gushue (Bally Haly Country Club, St. John’s) and the Northwest Territories/Yukon’s Jamie Koe (Yellowknife CC).
