February 19, 2013, Langley, BC (ISN) – Trinity Western men’s hockey goaltender Harry Fredeman (Ladner, B.C.) has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League’s Player of the Week for the week ending February 17th.

Fredeman led the Spartans to their first of back-to-back victories over Simon Fraser University since the 2006-07 season.

On Friday, the 21-year old entered the game with TWU trailing 3-1 just nine minutes in to the first period and made 32 saves on 34 shots, allowing his teammates to come from behind and force overtime. He then made three stops in the five-minute extra frame and turned aside all six SFU shooters in a shootout as TWU posted a 6-5 win.

One night later, Fredeman stole the show on the road in Burnaby, posting 44 saves — including 18 during a wild third period — in a 4-2 win over the Clan.

The rookie goaltender finished the week with a 2-0 record, a 2.26 goals-against average and a .947 save-percentage. Trinity Western had posted a record of 2-20-2 against SFU since the beginning of the 2007-08 season.

Runners up for this week’s award include Eastern Washington forward Bret Kellogg, Victoria forward Shawn Mueller, TWU forward Matthew Ius and Eastern Washington goaltender Jason Greenwell.
