Hitmen extend home-winning streak to eight games, clinching playoff berth

February 23, 2013, Calgary, AB (ISN) – Brooks Macek scored the shootout winner lifting the Calgary Hitmen to a 6-5 victory over Prince Albert Raiders Friday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Hitmen, now with eight consecutive home ice wins, have clinched a playoff berth for the 15th time in 18 seasons.

Jaynen Rissling forced overtime with less than three minutes remaining, while Jesse Zgraggen (1g, 1a), Brady Brassart, Colten Mayor and Pavlo Padakin also scored in the win. Brassart, now with a career-high 26 goals, extends his point scoring streak to six consecutive games, including goals in five straight. Macek also extended his point streak to six games (2g, 10a) with a pair of helpers for Calgary.

Hitmen netminder Chris Driedger made 26 saves in the win, including three in the shootout, as Calgary improves to 40-17-1-3 on the season.

Calgary returns to action Saturday, February 23, when they travel to Cranbrook to face the Kootenay Ice.
