February 28, 2013, Saskatoon, SK (ISN) – University of Saskatchewan Huskie women’s hockey forward Cara Wooster was honoured by the Canada West Wednesday by being named an all-star.
Wooster, a fifth-year Luseland, Sask., native, was named a Canada West First Team All-Star. It is the third straight season that Wooster was named a conference all-star. In the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, she was named to the Canada West Second Team.
Leading her team to a postseason spot for the sixth straight season, the captain of the Huskies finished second in Canada West scoring with 13 goals and 20 assists in 28 games.
“The First Team All-Star selection for Cara is very deserving,” said Huskie head coach Steve Kook. “With our young and talented team, Cara has been consistent all season in her efforts and productivity for us. With All-Star selections in her last couple seasons, Cara will be hard to replace in our program.”
In 2012-13, the Huskies finished fifth in the Canada West with an 11-12-5 record. Saskatchewan’s season came to an end in a conference quarter-final loss to the Alberta Pandas.
Wooster is now eligible to be named a CIS All-Canadian at the CIS Championship hosted by the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
