March 1, 2013, Sherbrooke, Que (CIS) – On this second day of competition at the CIS women’s volleyball championship, two teams that know each other very well met in the second match of the consolation round.

In the third game in two weeks between the two Quebec rivals, the tournament host Sherbrooke Vert & Or downed the Montreal Carabins 25-22, 25-15, 23-25 and 27-25, Friday afternoon, at Pavillon Univestrie.

Montreal had swept Sherbrooke two weeks ago in the best-of-three RSEQ final.

The provincial rivals, who had both lost in the quarter-finals on Thursday, did not disappoint their fans. The Vert & Or won the first two sets by the score of 25-15 and 25-22.

The Carabins, who finished fourth at last year’s nationals, held on to bring the score to 2 games to 1 winning 25-23 in the third set.

The Vert & Or players had understood the message given by their coach Denis Fontaine by decreasing considerably their number of direct mistakes (they had committed forty errors the evening prior). They demonstrated a physical presence on the block which earned them many points at critical moments of the match.

In the fourth set, the Sherbrooke University team gave themselves a lead of five points near the end of the game but Montreal made up the difference and resisted to several game points. But in the end Montreal lost by the score of 27-25.
